Well, let me start off by addressing the elephant in the room…the reason I haven’t posted in over a year! Well, truth be told, life happened and I veered off course. After being unemployed (laid-off) for 8 months, I started a new job as a para-transit driver working 12-13hrs a day; causing Single Moms Soar to slip to the back-burner. Now, let me tell you, I’m a “corporate office” kinda girl, so that job was kicking my butt! It threw off my sleep pattern, eating habits, and work-out routine. I gained about 30lbs (Ugh!), and felt like I was living in an alternate universe. It definitely wasn’t fun for me, but like most Single Moms, I had to adapt and persevere.
I’m not happy about losing momentum, but I’m not going to beat myself up about it either. My plan is to do exactly what I’m doing right now…get back on the horse and keep moving forward; build up even more momentum. Fortunately, I was able to get a regular 9-5, office job this past July, so I’m getting healthier, better rested, and ready to kick-start Single Moms Soar once again!
With that being said, I’m revamping this blog because I decided it would be more useful to start sharing my journey with other single moms, as I strive to build the life I truly want, and also spotlight the “highs and lows” that women tend to face when working to get to the next level. Also, it’ll keep me more accountable to doing what I want to do. It should be exciting!
At the same time, I want to be an example to other like-minded, single women who are also ready to create their best life, teach their children how to do the same, and support each other along the journey.
Society tends to characterize Single Moms sometimes as a group to feel sorry for, disadvantaged, and guilt-ridden, when in reality, Single Moms are strong, creative, resourceful, intelligent, supportive, dedicated, loving, and just plain AWESOME!
Unfortunately, we sometimes lose sight of our own AWESOMENESS and tend to allow our situation(s) to negatively define us.
Well, no more of that! I invite you to become a part of the Single Moms Soar tribe and join me on this journey. We’ll prove to the world, each other, and mainly ourselves, just how possible it is to create our ultimate reality, and prepare our children to do the same.
It won’t always be easy, and that’s okay. It just has to be possible!
So with that, I invite you to leave a comment below about how you would like to see life change for you and your children.
Until next time…Be Blessed!
